Mars Hill’s Abby DeBusk Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill College senior Abby DeBusk, of New Tazewell, Tenn., has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 28, it was announced today by the league office.
DeBusk, who helped the Lady Lions to a pair of league wins last week, earns the honor for the second time this season.
DeBusk, a product of Claiborne County High School, helped Mars
Hill to home wins over Lincoln Memorial and Tusculum. In the 72-50
win over LMU, the guard had 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and
dished out six assists. She followed up with a 27-point effort in
the Lady Lions' 90-78 victory over Tusculum.
For the week, DeBusk averaged 23 points and connected on nearly 70 percent (16-of-23) of her field goal attempts, including five-of-eight from beyond the arc. She made 9-of-13 at the line. DeBusk also chipped in with 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while blocking one shot with two steals.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the nine member schools.
