Catawba’s Hicks, LMU’s Salaman Named DII Bulletin Women’s Basketball All-Americans
Catawba senior forward Dana Hicks has been named to the Division II Bulletin women's basketball All-America Third Team, while Lincoln Memorial's Dayshalee Salaman earned Honorable Mention All-American honors, it was announced on Tuesday night.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba senior forward Dana Hicks has been named to the Division II Bulletin women's basketball All-America Third Team, while Lincoln Memorial's Dayshalee Salaman earned Honorable Mention All-American honors, it was announced on Tuesday night.
Hicks, the 2011-12 SAC Player of the Year, led Catawba to a 19-10 overall record and 12-6 mark in the SAC. The Indians reached the title game of the 2012 Food Lion SAC Basketball Championship and earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship.
Hicks led the SAC in rebounding average at 11.9 per-game this season and finished 10th in the conference in scoring at 14.1 points per-game. She was the only player in the league to average a double-double.
Earlier this month, Hicks was also named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team. She is just the second player in Catawba women's basketball history to record over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Salaman led the SAC in scoring this season at 20.6 points per-game to earn a spot on the All-Conference First Team. The sharp-shooting guard also finished first in assists, second in three-point percentage and seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio.
She led LMU to a 14-13 overall record this season and a 9-9 SAC finish.
Wayne St. forward Ashley Arlen was named the DII Bulletin National Player of the Year.
