UVA Wise's Vanzant Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) –The South Atlantic Conference announced the AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played in the seventh week of the 2020-21 season. UVA Wise's Nia Vanzant earns this week's Player of the Week honor.

A sophomore guard, Vanzant, helped lead the Cavaliers to two conference wins this past week. She picked up 25 points, six rebounds and three steals versus Mars Hill, while also garnering 21 points, four rebounds and 2 steals in their win over Coker. Vanzant averaged 23 points, five rebounds, 3.5 assists 2.5 steals and one block on the week. Overall, the Murfreesboro, Tenn., native averaged 37.5 percent from the floor, while also going 19-for-29 from the line. This is Vanzant's first Player of the Week honor this season.
