The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for 2021 Women's Basketball Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman, ranked No. 13 in the nation, won the 2020-21 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Title as it finished the season with a 15-2 record in conference play.  With the title, the Eagles have earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SAC Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this evening. 

The seedings for the basketball championship are based on the final regular season winning percentage for all teams, regardless of the total number of SAC games played. 

Tusculum finished in second with a 15-3 record in conference, earning the No. 2 seed in SAC Championship. Catawba's 9-2 SAC record was good for the No. 3 seed.

Earning the No. 4 seed was UVA Wise with a 13-4 SAC record, while Anderson slid into the No. 5 seed with an 11-9 conference record.

Limestone landed at No. 6 seed in the bracket with a record of 7-6 in SAC play, and Newberry earned the No. 7 seed with a record of 8-9 in conference play. Lincoln Memorial took the No. 8 seed with a record of 7-10 in SAC play, while Coker earned the No. 9 spot with a 7-11 record.

Wingate earned the No. 10 seed with a winning percentage of .373 after having to nullify seven games due to a violation of NCAA and SAC Bylaws. Rounding out the field for the tournament are Lenoir-Rhyne at the No. 11 seed with a record of 6-12 in the SAC, Mars Hill at the No. 12 seed with a 2-17 conference record, and Queens at the No. 13 seed with a 1-17 SAC record.

The 2021 SAC Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship will be played at campus sites throughout the tournament with opening round action taking place on Saturday, Feb. 27, followed by quarterfinals on Monday, March 1. The semifinals will take place on Thursday, March 4 and the final will tip-off on Sunday, March 7. The SAC Pilot Flying J Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.  The SAC Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship schedule is as follows:
