Wingate Takes the Lead After Day Two of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championship
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Wingate Bulldogs dropped 10 shots off their first round score to take a five stroke lead after Monday's second round of the South Atlantic Conference Championships at Sevierville Golf Club's River Course in Sevierville, Tenn.
The Bulldogs lead Newberry by five strokes and have a 10-stroke advantage over the Queens (N.C.) Royals and Carson-Newman Eagles who are tied for third.
Lincoln Memorial is fifth after shooting a combined score of 321 and the Railsplitters are 19 strokes behind Wingate. The Catawba Indians are in sixth and the Cobras of Coker are seventh.
Tusculum is eighth on the scoreboard and the Pioneers are 55 strokes behind the leaders. Anderson, Mars Hill and Lenior-Rhyne round out the standings in ninth, 10th and 11th respectfully.
Queen's Grace Glaze leads the individual competition by three strokes over Newberry's Karly Mims. Glaze shot a 76 during the second round. Newberry's Marianna Monaco is third and sixth strokes behind Glaze. There is a four-way tie for fourth-place with LMU's Lindsay Davis, Carson-Newman's Danielle Baiunco, and Wingate's duo of Caitlin Starrs and Mikaela Hadaway. The duo are all five strokes off the lead at 155.
Hadaway shot the tournament low-score of 73 on Monday, while the Carson-Newman duo of Jessica Hart and Rebekah Pruett shot rounds of 74 during the second round, which is the second-lowest total over the course of two days.
