Limestone Headlines 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Award Winners
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Limestone's Pilar Martinez was selected as the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golfer of the Year, while teammate Stina Wikstrom was named the Conference's Freshman of the Year and Limestone head coach Zack Siefert was named the Coach of the Year, the SAC office announced today.
Martinez, a senior from Malaga, Spain, is currently ranked No. 10 nationally in the NCAA Division II Golfstat Rankings. She has an adjusted scoring average of 73.84, has finished in the top-10 in all seven events she has competed in this season, placing in the top-three in every event this spring, including a first-place finish at the World Golf Invitational. She has been named the SAC AstroTurf Women's Golfer of the Week twice and she has helped lead the Saints to a No. 3 national ranking as a team.
Wikstrom, a freshman from Gustafs, Sweden, is currently ranked No. 21 nationally in the NCAA Division II Golfstat Rankings. She has an adjusted scoring average of 74.47, has finished in the top-20 in every event she has competed in this season, including five top-10 finishes, and two tournament championships. She won the Flagler Fall Slam, her first collegiate event, and she won the Savannah Lakes Invitational.
Siefert earns his first Coach of the Year honor after leading the Saints to a No. 3 national ranking. Under his leadership, Limestone never had a finish below second this season. This includes six team titles throughout the season: Flagler Fall Slam, Savannah Lakes Invitational, World Golf Invitational, Low Tide Intercollegiate, Hargett Memorial Invitational, and the Lady Bearcat Classic. Siefert has six golfers ranked in the top-100 in the nation.
Joining Martinez and Wikstrom on the All-SAC First Team is Limestone's Ebba Hellman with an adjusted scoring average of 73.96. Anderson's Jessica Rathbone checks in with an adjusted scoring average of 74.79, and Wingate's Hailey McLaughlin rounds out the first team with a scoring average of 75.06.
The 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship will run from Monday, April 12 through Tuesday, April 13, at the Woodlake Country Club in Tazewell, Tenn. Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. both days with 36-holes being played on Monday with a shotgun start, followed by 18-holes on Tuesday.
