Limestone Wins 2021 SAC Women's Golf Championship; Wingate's McLaughlin Takes Home Medalist Honors
TAZEWELL, TENN. (TheSAC.com) – The Limestone Saints record the low round of the tournament, shooting 295 (+7) as a team in the third and final round to capture the 2021 SAC Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday (April 13). Wingate's Hailey McLaughlin shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to win medalist honors.
Following Limestone were Anderson and Wingate in a tie for second place and Carson-Newman placed fourth. Rounding out the top-five teams was Lincoln Memorial.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished sixth, Tusculum was seventh, Queens finished eighth, Newberry was ninth, and Catawba finished 10th. Closing out the field of teams was Coker in 11th, Mars Hill in 12th, and UVA Wise in 13th.
Individually, six players earned All-Tournament First Team honors. Joining McLaughlin on the first team were Limestone's Ebba Hellman, Anderson's Jessica Rathbone, Limestone's Lena Schilowsky and Taylor Oberparleiter, and Lincoln Memorial's Caitlyn Lindell.
Earning All-Tournament Second Team honors were Anderson's Victoria Hall, Lenoir-Rhyne's Beatriz Espelosin, Limestone's Stina Wikstrom, and Lincoln Memorial's Lauren Martin.
With the win, the Saints earn the automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA South Region Tournament which will take place May 3-5 at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn.
