Anderson Increases Lead to 30 Strokes After Two Rounds of the 2023 SAC Women's Golf Championships
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Anderson Trojans increased their lead to 30 strokes in the second round of play after carding an even par 288 as a team at the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship at Cobbs Glen Country Club in Anderson, S.C. on Monday (April 3). Anderson's 283 is a new SAC Women's Golf Championship single-round team record. The Trojans have a two-round total of 571 (-5).
Following the Trojans in second place is Wingate who shot 301 (+13) in the second round and have a total of 601 (+25), while Limestone and Carson-Newman are tied for third at 35-over-par, 611 after two rounds. The Saints shot 310 (+22) in the second round and the Eagles shot 307 (+19).
Lincoln Memorial is in fifth after a second round 306 (+18), followed by Newberry in sixth with a 317 (+29) in the second round. Tusculum shot 317 (+29) and is in seventh place and Catawba is in eighth after shooting 319 (+31). Coker moved into ninth with a 312 (+24), followed by Lenoir-Rhyne in 10th after firing 320 (+32). Mars Hill is in 11h at 348 (+60) and UVA Wise is in 12th after shooting 355 (+67).
Individually, Anderson's Kennedy Gooding leads the field at three-under-par. She shot a three-over-par 75 in the second round. Fellow Trojan Jessica Rathbone is in second at two-under-par after carding a three-under-par 69 in round two.
The SAC Women's Golf Championship will finish up with the third and final round on Tuesday (April 4). Teams will tee-off beginning at 8:30 a.m. with double tees on hole one and hole 10. Live scoring can be found at https://www.birdiefire.com/tournament/159925/.
