Anderson Captures 2023 SAC Women's Golf Championship Earning Back-to-Back Titles
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – For the second consecutive year, the Anderson Trojans are the SAC Women's Golf Tournament Champions. The Trojans shot a 54-hole total of 865 (+1) as a team to claim the 2023 SAC Women's Golf Championship title.
Following the Trojans in second place was Wingate who shot 899 (+35) while Carson-Newman took third at 905 (+41). Limestone came in fourth with a three-round total of 908 (+44) followed by Lincoln Memorial in fifth (929, +65). Tusculum was sixth (933, +69) and Newberry finished in seventh (934, +70). Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba tied for eighth (951, +87), while Coker finished in 10th (956, +92). Mars Hill (1040, +176) and UVA Wise (1043, +179) rounded out the field in 11th and 12th, respectively.
Individually, Anderson's Kennedy Gooding took home medalist honors firing rounds of 66, 75, and 71 to finish at four-under-par for the tournament. Fellow Trojan Jessica Rathbone finished second at two-under-par with rounds of 73, 69, and 72.
Joining Gooding and Rathbone on the 2023 SAC Women's Golf All-Tournament team were Anderson's Kennedy McGaha, Tusculum's Nilubol Panno, Wingate's Hailey McLaughlin, Carson-Newman's Maeve Cummins, Limestone's Pennie Osterberg, Anderson's Kerington Lamb, Wingate's Talia Perez-Vieco, and Limestone's Maria Morales.
With the win, the Trojans earn an automatic bid to the NCAA South Region Tournament May 8-11 at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.
