Anderson Finishes Historic Season as National Runner-Up
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The historic postseason run for the Anderson University Women's Golf came to an end on Friday afternoon as the Trojans fell to Dallas Baptist University Women's Golf, 5-0, in the NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship medal match at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Anderson, making its first appearance in the national championship match, capped off one of the most successful seasons in program history after advancing through both stroke play and semifinal match play earlier in the week. The Trojans battled one of the nation's top programs in Dallas Baptist, but the Patriots controlled the momentum throughout Friday's final.
DBU claimed the opening point when Sidney Robertson defeated Aly Francis, 4UP, before Gracie Grant earned a 13UP victory over Olivia Roberts to extend the Patriots' lead. Chloe Sirkin added another point for Dallas Baptist with a 5UP win against Olivia Pellerin, while Madison Ude secured the championship-clinching point with a 3UP victory over Kennedy Gooding. Ella Cheek rounded out the sweep with a 17UP win over Paige Paolucci.
Despite the loss, Anderson's run to the national title match marked a milestone achievement for the program and added another chapter to a memorable season for the Trojans on the national stage. Dallas Baptist captured back-to-back National Championships with the win today and the third in four years.
Anderson is the second SAC team to be crowned National Runner Up, joining Limestone in 2022.
