Limestone Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the fourth weekend of the 2021 season. Limestone's Elizabeth Muscella took the offensive honor, while teammate Madelyn DeSoto took the defensive honor.

Muscella, a junior midfielder, helped the Saints to a 2-0 conference record this past weekend. She scored a career-high six goals while adding five draw controls, two ground balls and one assist in their 20-4 win over Mars Hill. Muscella went on to score three goals and add four draw controls in a 15-10 win over Wingate. Overall, the Port Deposit, Md., native pulled together 10 points with nine goals while also compiling nine draw controls and two ground balls. This is Muscella's first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

A freshman goalie DeSoto, earned her first two wins in goal by making two saves with a 50% save percentage against Mars Hill. She then went on to save five goals in their win over Wingate. The Port Tobacco Md., native spent 90 minutes between the goal posts where she totaled seven saves and allowed only 12 goals. This is Desoto's first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
