The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during the ninth week of the 2024 season. Wingate swept the weekly awards as Kaleigh Wilgeroth was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Leah Knowles was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Wilgeroth, a junior from Rocky Point, N.Y., piled up 13 points to lead No. 16 Wingate to two more SAC victories last week, pushing the SAC winning streak to 25. Wilgeroth had five goals, eight assists, two draw controls, and a ground ball and caused turnover on the week. She started the week with three goals and five assists in the Catawba win, adding a pair of draw controls and a ground ball. Wilgeroth notched two goals and three assists in the Lincoln Memorial victory, adding a caused turnover in the 17-4 win.

Knowles, a graduate student from Hickory, N.C., piled up nine caused turnovers, 12 ground balls and 10 draw controls in the two victories for the Bulldogs while also scoring eight goals. Knowles had six draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers in the Catawba win, while scoring five goals to become the all-time leader in Wingate history. She piled up six caused turnovers Saturday against LMU, helping the 'Dogs notch a program-record 29 caused turnovers in the 17-4 win while also registering seven ground balls, four draw controls and three goals.
