Lenoir-Rhyne’s Caitlin Scruggs Named Women’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs is this week's South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Scruggs, a sophomore from Torrance, Calif. (Torrance HS), posted three shutouts last week to lead Lenoir-Rhyne to a 2-0-1 record including a pair of 2-0 victories over SAC-foes Brevard and Lincoln Memorial.
She posted three saves in each of the contests capped off with a
scoreless tie on the road against No. 16 and previously unbeaten
and untied Belmont Abbey on Monday. Scruggs has allowed just one
goal to go along with a 0.24 goals-against average for Lenoir-Rhyne
(9-1-1, 4-0 SAC) in 2010. The Bears are off to their best start in
school history.
