Carson-Newman’s Morgan Gruenenfelder Named Women’s Soccer Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­- Carson-Newman College midfielder Morgan Gruenenfelder is this week's South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

Gruenenfelder, a senior from Sweetwater, Tenn. (Sweetwater HS), tallied two goals and one assist to lead the Lady Eagles to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins on the week. With the victories, Gruenenfelder and the Lady Eagles won a share of the SAC regular season crown.

She scored an insurance goal in the 82nd minute of a 3-2 win at SAC rival Tusculum on Wednesday. Gruenenfelder closed out the week by scoring a goal and distributing an assist in C-N's 4-2 victory over Newberry on Saturday that clinched a share of the SAC title.

Gruenenfelder, who has produced 10 goals and five assists on the season, has helped guide the Lady Eagles to eight straight wins and an 11-6 record, including an 8-1 mark in conference play.
