Mars Hill Men, Lenoir-Rhyne Women Move up in Latest NSCAA National Rankings
After each going 2-0 in the first week of the 2012 season, the Lenoir-Rhyne women’s soccer team climbed to No. 6 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire national rankings, while the Mars Hill men moved up to No. 9.
KANSAS CITY – After each going 2-0 in the first week of the 2012 season, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team climbed to No. 6 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire national rankings, while the Mars Hill men moved up to No. 9.
Lenoir-Rhyne was ranked ninth in last week's poll, while Mars Hill was 17th.
The Bears women's team opened their 2012 schedule with victories over a pair of Peach Belt schools, beating Georgia College 2-0 on Friday followed by a 3-1 win over Lander on Sunday. Freshman forward Leah Mullins leads L-R after two matches with five points – two goals and an assist.
The Mars Hill men, meanwhile, kicked their season off with a 3-1 victory over then-No. 12 Barry behind a pair of goals from sophomore Alex Mullen.
MHC followed that up with a 5-1 victory at King on Saturday. Five different players scored for the Lions in the match.
