Lenoir-Rhyne's Leah Mullins Earns National Women's Soccer Weekly Honors
Kansas City, Kan. – Lenoir-Rhyne University's Leah Mullins has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Player of The Week.
Mullins, a senior forward from Kissimmee, Fla., tallied a hat trick in both victories last week over USC Aiken (8-0) and Union (Tenn.) (6-0) on Wednesday and Sunday, respectively.
In addition, Mullins scored all three goals in the first half of both matches. The USC Aiken contest was on the road while the Bears played Union (Tenn.) in Greeneville, Tenn.
Mullins, a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference (2012-14) and two-time All-Southeast Region (2012-13) honoree, was named the league player of the week on Monday for her efforts.
As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne moved up 11 spots to No. 13 in this week's NSCAA NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Top 25 National Poll.
Lenoir-Rhyne (3-1) opens South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday against Carson-Newman (2-1) in Jefferson City, Tenn., beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Bears are the five-time defending league champions.
