Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba Rank in the Top 10 Nationally in USC Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference boasts two teams in the top 10 of the women's soccer national rankings as the USC National Poll was released. This was the first poll since the preseason poll was announced on August 6.
Lenoir-Rhyne opened the season at No. 8 in the preseason poll and went 1-0 to jump up to No. 3. The Bears topped UNC Pembroke 4-1 in the season opener and have a showdown with No. 12 Lee on Thursday.
Catawba, the preseason SAC favorites, slot in at No. 9 nationally and jumped five spots from No. 14. Catawba defeated No. 15 Embry-Riddle 3-2 and then defeated Georgia College 3-1. Kelly Havens earned SAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Catawba.
