The South Atlantic Conference Announces Weplayed WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week three of the 2024 season. Anderson's Camryn Woods was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Catawba's Maria Rayburn brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Woods, a junior from Battneforf, Iowa, helped Anderson to a 4-2 SAC win over Mars Hill in the lone contest of the week for the Trojans. In that match, she netted a pair of goals on just three shots to move Anderson to 4-1 on the season.
Rayburn, a junior from Huntersville, N.C., recorded an assist and helped Catawba allow just three shots on goal in their undefeated week in league play. Rayburn headed the assist on Bree Ehmer's go-ahead goal in the 2-2 draw vs. Carson-Newman on Wednesday before helping the 9th-ranked Catawba Indians hold Lincoln Memorial to just one shot on goal in the 3-0 win on Saturday. As a defensive midfielder, Rayburn orchestrates a defense that has allowed a SAC-low 14 shots on goal through six games this season.
