Wingate's Andrews Named 2024 South Atlantic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Lucie Andrews has been named the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year, the conference announced Thursday (April 11).
A junior from London, England, Andrews collected five All-American performances at the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships this past March. She was named a First Team All-American in the 400 Freestyle Relay, swimming the third leg as the Bulldogs collected bronze in the event with a time of 3:20.99. Andrews also earned a First Team All-American nod as she anchored the 800 Freestyle Relay, touching the wall for the Bulldogs at 7:19.32 for fifth place. She collected three Honorable Mention All-American performances in the 100 Freestyle, finishing 12th with a time of 50.59, the 200 Medley Relay, finishing 13th with a time of 1:41.89, the 200 Freestyle Relay, finishing 16th with a time of 1:33.64.
At the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships, Andrews was named the Women's Swimmer of the Meet after collecting three gold medals and four silver. Her first-place performances came in the 50 Freestyle (23.32), 500 Freestyle (5:00.11) and the 800 Freestyle Relay (7:32.88). Andrews finished second in the 100 Freestyle (50.76), 200 Freestyle (1:50.81), 200 Freestyle Relay (1:33.82) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:25.62).
On the season, Andrews swam the top time in the SAC in the 50 Freestyle (23.32), was second in the 100 Freestyle (50.54) and the 200 Freestyle (1:50.81) and third in the 500 Freestyle (5:00.11). She was also named the SAC WePlayed Sports Swimmer of the Week for her efforts during the week of January 30th.
