Tusculum’s Courtney Conley Named Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Tusculum College's Courtney Conley has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 22, 2010. She wins for the second time this season.
Conley, a freshman from Bristol, Tenn. (Tennessee HS), posted a 3-0 record in singles and doubles play to lead the Tusculum Pioneers to three victories this past week. Tusculum blanked Virginia-Wise to open the week and followed with a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins against Wingate (7-2) and Catawba (9-0).
Conley won all of her matches in straight sets, while also going 3-0 at No. 2 doubles with teammate Taylor Patterson.
Conley opened the the week with an 8-0 win over UVA-Wise's Kayli Bates. She followed that with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Wingate's Kelli Ferguson and later tallied a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Vanessa Silva of Catawba.
Since joining the program this spring, Conley is 10-1 in singles
and doubles play as the Pioneers improved to 12-1 this season.
