The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, Mar. 16
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Kealee Heffner has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 9-15, the League announced today.
Heffner , a junior from Cumming, Ga., was a perfect 4-0 in the top singles flight for Tusculum last week, and helped the 36th-ranked Pioneers improve to 10-0 this season. She started her week off with a hard fought three-set victory over IUP's Tanya Tinko (3-6, 6-2, 10-7), helping the Pioneers hand the Crimson Hawks their first loss of the season. Heffner also didn't drop a game in a victory over Bloomsburg's Aida Diop (6-0, 6-0) and also defeated a solid foe in Quincy's Amy Kuhle in three sets (6-2, 6-7, 11-9). Heffner wrapped up the week with her second SAC victory of the season, besting Lenoir-Rhyne's Zorica Djuric 4-6, 7-5, 10-4. Heffner also teamed with doubles partner Kate Hutchinson and won two matches in the top flight. They easily topped Bloomsburg's Diop/ and rin Rietenauer 8-1 and defeated the Lenoir-Rhyne duo of Dominique Bruce and Lucy Stofberg (8-2). The honor is her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
