The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, Feb. 22
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry's Elizabeth Williamson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 15-21, the League announced today.
Williamson, a junior from Canterbury, New Zealand, went 3-0 in both singles and doubles to lead the Wolves to a 3-0 record in League play last week. Against Coker, she teamed with Tara Lamers to post a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles and followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles vs. the Cobras. Williamson and Lamers then posted an 8-2 doubles win against Catawba and an 8-4 doubles victory against Carson-Newman. In singles play, Williamson picked up straight-set wins against the Catawba Indians and Eagles at the No. 1 flight.
She is currently 11-0 at No. 1 singles on the year. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
