The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeding for 2021 Women's Tennis Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Wingate Bulldogs claimed the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship, as the Conference regular season came to a close on Sunday (April 11) afternoon. The Bulldogs finished the season with a perfect 11-0 record in SAC play and they will be the No. 1 seed in the SAC Women's Tennis Championship, which starts next week.

Queens closed out the season with a 9-2 conference record and will be the No. 2 seed, while Lenoir-Rhyne will be the No. 3 seed with a 9-3 record. Carson-Newman slides into the No. 4 spot with an 8-4 SAC record, and Limestone will be the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season with a 7-5 record. The No. 6 seed will be Tusculum, who also finished the regular season at 7-5 in SAC play, while Newberry will be the No. 7 seed after closing out the season at 7-5. Limestone won the tiebreaker over Tusculum and Newberry by virtue of a 10-4 record versus the Pioneers and Wolves, and Tusculum won the tiebreaker over Newberry based on its 4-3 head-to-head win. 

Rounding out the field is Lincoln Memorial at No. 8 with a 5-4 SAC record.

The 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship will be played at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. beginning with quarterfinals on Thursday (April 15), followed by semifinals on Friday (April 16) and finals on Saturday (April 17). Due to COVID-19 protocols, the Palmetto Tennis Center will not be allowing spectators into the venue during the championship. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:

Match 2: #5 Limestone vs. #4 Carson-Newman, 9:00 a.m.

Match 4: #6 Tusculum vs. #3 Lenoir-Rhyne, 9:00 a.m.
