The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of the indoor track & field season. Queen's Fatima Alanis earned the track honor and Lenoir-Rhyne's Holly Kone earned the field honor.
Alanis, a sophomore from Coahuila, Mexico took first place in the 5,000 meter run at the GVSU Big Meet with a time of 16:29.72; which is the second-fastest time in DII currently. This is Alanis' third Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Kone, a sophomore from Nottingham, United Kingdom took the first place crown in the triple jump at the Roanoke Invite with a jump of 10.63 meters. She was also a member of the winning 4x400 team at the meet. This is Kone's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
