Lenoir-Rhyne's Brown and Limestone's Downs Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Limestone's Trinity Downs was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the first week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today. 

Brown, a freshman from Austell, Ga., posted a pair of NCAA provisional times in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Winston-Salem College Kickoff last weekend at JDL Fast Track. She won both events, crossing the finish line at 7.43 seconds in the 60m and 25.08 seconds in the 200m.

Downs, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., placed third in the weight throw at the Clemson Opener with an NCAA provisional toss of 13.99 meters.
