Wingate Sweeps 2026 SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

Winston-Salem, N.C. — The 2026 South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships concluded Sunday at the JDL Fast Track, as Wingate University captured both the men's and women's team titles to complete a championship sweep.

Wingate's depth across distance, sprints, hurdles, relays and field events powered both Bulldog squads to the top of the team standings. Strong scoring efforts throughout the weekend — including key finals performances on Sunday — secured the conference crowns.

Records fell throughout the weekend on the men's and women's side in the first year of the banked track at the JDL Fast Track. Carson-Newman garnered runner-up status on the men's side with Tusculum coming in second on the women's side.

Wingate's men controlled the meet from the outset, nearly doubling the score of the runner-up to secure the SAC championship. The Bulldogs piled up points across the track and in the field, showcasing balance and championship-level depth throughout the two-day event.
