Wingate Bulldogs Capture 2018 SAC Women's Track and Field Championship
The Wingate Bulldogs won their second straight South Atlantic Conference Women's Track and Field Championship.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wingate University captured the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Women's Track and Field Championships, respectively.
The Bulldogs (206.5 points) took their second straight league championship, while the Queens (200) finished just six and half points behind in second place and Lenoir-Rhyne (127.5 points) finihsed third.
Wingate was led by Vanisha Wiltshire. The 2018 SAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year won the triple jump (39'9") and high jump (5'10") and finished second in the long jump (18'9").
Wingate also captured first place in both the women's 400-meter (46.11) and 1,600-relay (3:54.47) events.
Queens' Hannah Wolkenhauer was named the SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year after an extremely impressive showing. Wolkenhauer won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:05.50) and 5,000-meter run (17:18.61) and was runner-up in the 10,000-meter run (38:49.52).
