The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of the outdoor track & field season. Carson-Newman's Katie Smock earned the track honor and Tusculum's Shanee Angol earned the field honor.
Smock, a sophomore distance runner from Kodak, Tenn., won her first collegiate race as an Eagle, winning the 10,000-meter run at the Electric City Invitational. She posted a winning time of 41:33.81.
Angol, a senior thrower from Grand Bay, Dominica, posted an NCAA provisional mark of 43.00 meters in the javelin at the Catamount Classic. In addition to being an NCAA qualifying mark, Angol won the event and she now holds the top javelin throw in the SAC this season. She also placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 11.02 meters at the meet.
