Lenoir-Rhyne’s Wensley, Lutz Named Volleyball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Katelin Wensley and Meredith Lutz have been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week.
Wensley, a freshman outside hitter from Advance, N.C. (Davie County HS) led Lenoir-Rhyne to a 4-0 week as the Bears won all four of their matches at the Francis Marion Invitational last weekend in Florence, S.C. Wensley averaged 10 kills and seven digs per match including a 14-kill performance in a 3-1 victory over Erskine on Friday. Wensley followed that performance with a double-double (11 kills and 12 digs) against Charleston, a 3-1 victory, Saturday morning. Wensley currently leads Lenoir-Rhyne with 75 kills.

Lutz, a freshman setter from Newton, N.C. (Fred T. Foard HS) averaged 38 assists and 7.8 digs in Lenoir-Rhyne's four victories at the Francis Marion Invitational Tournament. Against Erskine on Friday, Lutz tallied a double-double (48 assists and 10 digs) before a 37-assist, 11-dig performance versus UNC Pembroke on Saturday. Lutz leads the team with 332 assists.
The duo have helped the Bears moved to 9-0 on the year and continue their best start in school history. L-R also picked up three wins against regional opponents last weekend (Francis Marion, Erskine and UNC Pembroke).
