Carson-Newman’s Cate Named Academic All-American
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's Amy Cate has been named a first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in Track and Field. Cate has a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Physical Education. Cate is a two-sport athlete as she is also a member of the Lady Eagles basketball team.
Cate has a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Physical Education. She was selected the 2004-05 Carson-Newman Female Academic Athlete of the Year. Cate has been a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Carson-Newman's Dean's List every semester. Cate finished tied for ninth place in the high jump at the NCAA National Championships earlier this year, the second consecutive season she has advanced to the national tournament.
Cate is a two-sport athlete as she is also a member of the Lady Eagles basketball team. She was a member of the Lady Eagles squad that won the SAC Tournament championship in 2005 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16.
Cate is the third Academic All-American Carson-Newman has produced in 2004-05. Kyle Frohock (Franklin, Tenn.), a member of the Eagles' soccer team and Bryce Kirksey (Cleveland, Tenn.), a member of the cross country team, were earlier selected as All-Americans. Cate is the 12th C-N student-athlete named an Academic All-American and the first member of the track team to receive the honor.

Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA).
