Wingate Ranks No. 6, Catawba Climbs to No. 19 in National Coaches’ Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – October 8, 2025 – Two South Atlantic Conference women's cross country programs are featured in the latest USTFCCCA Division II National Coaches' Poll, with Wingate University maintaining its place among the nation's elite at No. 6 and Catawba College making one of the biggest jumps of the week, up five spots to No. 19.
Wingate continues to lead the Southeast Region after a strong performance at the Paul Short Run, where the Bulldogs placed 16th overall in a deep Division I field. Despite slipping one spot in the national poll, Wingate's pack running stood out, as just nine seconds separated its second through fifth finishers.
Catawba's steady rise continued this week after an impressive showing at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic, where the Indians finished seventh overall. Front-running efforts from Hannah Caudill and Madison Clay helped Catawba secure its highest national ranking of the season at No. 19.
Both Wingate and Catawba will look to build on their momentum as the regular season winds down ahead of the 2025 SAC Cross Country Championships later this month.
