The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Jan. 23
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Charles Clark has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 16-22, the League announced today.
Clark, a junior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., averaged 27.5 points per game and shot 66 percent from the field to lead the Eagles to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week. He got his week started with 27 points on 11-of-14 from the field, to go along with 13 rebounds, six assists and one steal in the 100-77 win over Anderson on Jan. 18. Three days later against Newbery, Clark piled up 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two steals as Carson-Newman defeated Newbery, 110-91. His 13 rebounds in both contests marked career-bests and the performances marked the first time in his career that he has produced back-to-back double-doubles. His seven helpers was also a season-best as he became the first player since 2002 to post a game with at least 25 points, 10 boards and five assists. The honor is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
